The CMS’ Medicare Star Rating system rates the quality and performance of Medicare Advantage and Medicare prescription drug plans to help consumers and their families compare plans. Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-Star Rating system (where 5 is the highest rank). Star Ratings are calculated each year and may change from one year to the next.
Star Ratings for Part D Services are based on how well a health plan provides medication coverage along with a number of factors, including: Prescription Drug Event (PDE) data, customer service, member complaints, member experience with the drug plan, and drug safety and adherence. The annual Medicare Star Ratings can be found online at www.medicare.gov.
